Who is responsible for your information

Island Canine Consulting is a sole proprietorship based in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. Questions about privacy, access, or corrections can be sent to info@islandcanineconsulting.com or raised by phone at (902) 536-6565.

Information we may collect

Depending on why you contact Island Canine, information may include your name and contact details, household and scheduling information, information about your dog, behaviour history, incident descriptions, veterinary or other records you choose to provide, consent and service records, payment-related records, and communications about your case.

The public website itself is designed to collect very little information directly. Hosting and security infrastructure may process ordinary connection and security information needed to deliver and protect the site.

Why information is used

Information is used for purposes reasonably connected to providing and administering Island Canine services: responding to enquiries, screening service fit, scheduling, assessment and behaviour planning, safety and risk management, communicating with clients, maintaining case and financial records, making referrals with appropriate permission, and meeting applicable legal or business obligations.

Island Canine aims to collect only information that is reasonably needed for those purposes.

Consent and communication channels

When you choose phone, SMS, email, Facebook, online booking, or another communication method, the information you send travels through that provider. Please keep first contact brief and avoid sending extensive sensitive records or confidential third-party information through social or ordinary messaging channels. A more appropriate process can be arranged when detailed case information is needed.

Service providers

Island Canine uses service providers for functions such as website hosting and security, booking and client portal access, email and telecommunications, and payment processing. These providers may process information needed to perform those services. Their own privacy terms may also apply when you interact directly with their services.

Safeguards, retention, access, and correction

Island Canine uses administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information. Information is retained only for as long as reasonably needed for the purpose for which it was collected, applicable recordkeeping needs, or legal obligations, and is then securely deleted or destroyed when appropriate.

You may ask what personal information Island Canine holds about you and request correction of inaccurate information, subject to applicable legal limits. You may also ask questions about how information has been used or disclosed.

Canadian privacy requirements

Island Canine handles personal information with reference to applicable Canadian privacy requirements, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) where it applies. This page is intended to explain Island Canine's practices in plain language; it is not legal advice or a waiver of any rights provided by law.

For a privacy question, access request, correction request, or concern about Island Canine's handling of personal information, contact info@islandcanineconsulting.com. If a concern cannot be resolved directly, individuals may also have rights to raise concerns with the appropriate privacy oversight body.
