First contact
Book a free discovery call, or contact Island Canine by phone, text, email, or Facebook. Initial contact gathers enough information to decide whether a behaviour assessment is the right next step.
Behaviour support for everyday life
Island Canine provides in-home canine behaviour consulting across Cape Breton. Common reasons for reaching out include growling, snapping or biting, barking or lunging, resource guarding, fear-related behaviour, and conflict between dogs living in the same household.
Approach
The first step is understanding the behaviour in context before deciding what to change.
Health, environment, learning history, routines, relationships, and what happens around the behaviour can all matter. Recommendations are then built around the individual dog and household, with safety and welfare considered throughout the process.
Behaviour consulting
There is a basic structure, but it is not a rigid sequence. Each step provides information that helps determine what makes sense next.

The assessment looks more closely at behaviour, context, history, safety, health information, and anything else that may be relevant.
The plan identifies what to work on, what needs managing now, and which recommendations are realistic for the household.
Follow-up reviews what is changing, adjusts the plan where needed, and identifies the next priorities.
Services & pricing
Appointments are booked one session at a time. There are no required behaviour packages.
For a new behaviour concern. The assessment reviews the dog's history and circumstances, identifies immediate priorities, and includes an individualized written summary or behaviour plan.
For existing behaviour cases. Follow-up reviews progress, new information, and how the current plan is working so recommendations can be adjusted when needed.

You do not need to know exactly what kind of support your dog needs before you reach out. A short description of what has been happening is enough to start the conversation.
